    Hi
I have lost password to a password protected *.ctx old but important notebook. The password protection is being implemented using 7zip archiving tool. I was wondering if there are any suggestions on how I can apply some of the brute (eg. cRARk) force (I remember that my password was a weak one) 7zip password recovery tools on a *.ctx file. Can I simply rename it as a *.7z file and proceed?

Thanks much. any Advice is welcome.

Yes, try to change the extension and unzip it with a fake password. Or rather: create a new CherryTree file with a new password and experiment first. So in this way you will find out if unzipping with 7zip works. And then you can try to brute force the lost password. Good luck.
