I’m migrating from XP Pro to Linux and to Cherrytree 0.30.5 (I know, there’re is a newer ver.) from keyNote NF v.1.7.8.1.

I tried to import a Keynote file – filename.knt – into Cherrytree with no apparent success – Cherrytree returns to its opening page state and stays there.

Is http://code.google.com/p/keynote-nf/ the Keynote program that Cherrytree imports Keynote files from and, if so, is importing from a *.knt file maintained by that program simply a matter of ‘opening’ it from the Cherrytree “Import” dialog?

I thought to add this note to my post as I reference a comment on another site that I made about Cherrytree.

I implemented the import from the original keynote, if this keynote-nf didn’t change the syntax it should work, if you want to send me an example of keynote-nf file that fails to be imported I can take a look, my mail is in cherrytree help–about dilaog.
    Regards.

    My system: Windows7 64 italian, keynote 1.6.5, cherrytree 0.38.8

Hello All, and thanks to Giuseppe for his great work 😉

.knt importing in cherrytree seems to works only for small .knt files.

With a big .knt file (about 8mb, 140 nodes, formatted, no images) cherrytree gives error after many minutes of trying.

    A possible workaround :
use keynote NF to export big knt files to “treepad free” format (single file).
(when exporting from keynoteNF to “treepad free” formatting is lost)

    BUT
cherrytree still has errors in importing italian accented letters (à, è, …). (They are correctly exported by keynote to treepad).

    PS
Exportin from keynoteNF to “treepad shareware” keeps original formatting, but cherrytree can’t read it correctly

    Thanks, M.

    Update:
importing from small keynote files has formatting errors, but italian carachters ( ò à ù è é) are correctly imported

    EXAMPLE:
if i save this in KeynoteNF:

    “test
    blabla

    blabfdfdfds”

When i import it in cherrytree, it becomes

    “testblablablabfdfdfds”
