I will sometimes bounce between many different nodes, thus opening multiple tabs. Is there a means of closing a particular tab ?

Puzzled user here. There are no tabs I am aware of. Did you mean “tags”. Please clarify your workflow.

So, I start the application. The last active node is highlighted and a window shows its contents.

I click on a second node, and its contents are displayed in another window – over the first window. There is no one tab at the upper left of the window – showing the name of the originally open node. The top center of the window shows the name of the currently selected node.

I click on a 3rd node. Now there are two “tabs” at the upper left of the window showing the previous two node names. The name of the currently selected node is displayed at the top center of the window.

I click on a 4th node, now there are three “tabs” at the upper left of the window showing the previous three node names. The name of the currently selected node is displayed at the top center of the window.

I can click on any of the “tabs” and the window changes to display the contents of the associated node.

    I hope this make sense.

Thank you for your time !

I’m sorry. I simply do not see what you describe. I have Cherrytree 38.7 in Ubuntu. I only see one selected node in window at any time (as you describe). But there are navigation arrows in toolbar to go through visited nodes. No “tabs”.

< Go to the Previous Visited Node
    > Go to the Next Visited Node

I am puzzled by the reference to showing multiple “tabs” at upper left of windows.

Do you have a later version of CherryTree?

    I have version 0.37.4.

I created a screen shot of the application, but am unable to attach an image. Your sw allows me to specify a URL to the image, but that requires me to place it somewhere online, which my company will likely not permit.

I will have to do so using my personal PC at home and my own web space.

    Your sw

Please understand that this is not “my software”. i am merely a user (a regular and keen user). I have no influence over the software design. i am just comparing my environment with yours and I may be missing some preference you have set.

Sorry – I meant the software that provides this forum.

I very much agree with this request: every note that is opened leaves a tab, and their order changes when a tab is clicked. This feature (the tabs) is – to me – very much of a nuisance and I have tried in vain to get rid of it.

Giuseppe: make this thing an option, assuming that someone likes it, or scrap it!.

And thanks for a great programme that I use 100 times a day!

    please see:
View -> Show/Hide Node Name Header
    and:
Edit -> Preferences -> Tree 2 -> Last Visited Nodes on Node Name Header

That makes sense. I can now see the tabs referred to earlier by @ctuny.

… sooooo simple when you know how to do it!
    Thanks
