I have switched from Tuxcards to Cherrytree a few days ago (I was looking for a similar program which is actively maintained). Many thanks for developing it!

My question is whether it is possible to apply formatting (italic, bold etc.) while typing. It seems to me that currently formatting can only be applied to text which has already been typed in. I am frequently writing notes (e.g. of scholarly papers) which include citations in another language (Latin, mostly), and I would like to have these in italics. Typing notes would be faster if I could hit ctrl-i (etc.), then type in the relevant text, then ctrl-i again to switch off italics.

I remember, that this had been already requested somewhere in the past. At now this is not doable. You have to mark at first the text, which you want to emphasize.
