Without a great notetaking app I’d be lost, and this is a great app, thanks!

Any news on when spell checking/new version will be implemented, as this is a feature I really need

About the new version 0.25, that will be released soon with a single (but very tough) feature: a new data storage type, a sqlite 3 database (which is anyway a single file).
Storing the old way (a single xml file) will be still available but probably not much used since with the new storage type there is faster reading, faster saving and less memory usage.
About the spell check I hope to find time to do it soon but cannot promise, my holidays are almost complete and after the 0.25 release my free time will be short.
Cheers.

thanks for the reply. Cherrytree is really a great little app. When i shifted from MS to Linux a couple of years ago the only program i really missed was MS onenote (and maybe foobar!). And though i’ve tried pretty much all the linux alternatives (tomboy/basket/nixnote etc etc) cherrytree is by far the best and most intuitive and the only one that comes close to onenote. I’m surprised the major distro’s haven’t yet taken an interest (or am i mistaken?) as it beats tomboy and knotes hands down…surely a matter of time. Spell checking, due to my awful skills in that department, would be (excuse the pun) the cherry on top….
That said, the new database storage sounds exciting and a major step forward, Good Luck and Thankyou!

Also, any plans to integrate the sort of free pasting seen in Basket and OneNote?
Cheers

Hi, I don’t know what the “sort of free pasting seen in Basket and OneNote” is.
Cheers.

sorry, not had chance to check in for a few days…
i see what you mean, should have been more precise…
by free pasting i mean (as wikipedia puts it) “However, unlike a word processor, users can simply write anywhere on a virtually unbounded document window by just clicking there.”
in basketnotes you have the option to create a note/basket with 1/2/3 columns or ‘free’ (as shown here: http://basket.kde.org/screenshots.php)
so you can place text or images anywhere and not in a linear way as with usual text editors. i hope i’m explaning myself clearly…
thanks.

the option to have 2 columns is in the TODO list; about “place text or images anywhere and not in a linear way” that will probably never be implemented.
cheers.
