Ok I decided to branch off the Feature’s Request topic and start this one. I almost titled it “Opening Up the CherryTree” but decided to go with a clearer topic :-)

All one has to do is consider that CherryTree is the work of one guy and take a look at the way that CherryTree is put together to realize that the person doing it has got to really enjoy what they are doing. However I think CherryTree is a real gem (ok perhaps a red ruby) and I’d like to see if there is a way to help others with something that I think in a lot of ways is better than Keepnote as an alternative.

So, what would you think about getting some help with some of the work needed to be done in CherryTree. If I was a coder (which I’m not) I’d probably be a little hesitant about letting others start to wreak havoc in my masterpiece.

Ok so I’m not a coder but I can do a decent job of promoting stuff when I’m interested in it. I used to tell the whole world about NoteTabPro back when I was in the Windows World. So if you had any thoughts on accepting some help on this wonderful text file organization system just let me know.

One of the first things I looked at just now is to see if CherryTree was listed on Sourceforge or FreeCode (used to be FreshMeat).

What’dya think?

At the risk of jumping the “promotion gun” I just wrote an article about CherryTree. You can check that out here http://gottmilk.igottcha.com/2011/11/17/opening-up-the-cherrytree/

Hi Tim and thanks for the nice article you wrote :)
I’m always opened to get help in implementing new features/improving existing features, in the interest of the CherryTree users.

So then, what do you think about the submission into Sourceforge or FreeCode?

Admittedly since I’m not a coder I haven’t ever submitted a project into either of these two; but I frequent both of them several times a month and I’d be happy to look into what it would take to get this going if you don’t already know.

I don’t know what you mean with submit to sourceforge or freecode… the cherrytree project is already versioned with mercurial on google code (see http://www.giuspen.com/cherrytree/#dev) so anybody can get the latest development version and work on it.

I could have found that if I had looked (note to self; should have looked).

Ok I added a comment on the article that I wrote and with this little added info I can actively seek help on this project and tell others about it. Thanks.
