I found these packages http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=x-tile
but it does not work because there is no gnome-python2-gconf
or other python packages depending on the version of rpm (for Fedora or OpenSuse) and I can’t find them in Synaptic.
I’m trying pclinuxos because it suits my HP Pavilion dv6 with graphics card Raedon.
Instead, I use Ubuntu 12.04 with Mate on a Acer and X-tile works great.
Ciao Marilena, isn’t gnome-python-gconf good?
I just googled a bit and found this
I asked for help to “Forum Informatica Majorana” friends
and they have converted the file deb in rpm, you can download it from the link: http://www.istitutomajorana.it/forum2/attachment.php?aid=2271
Afterwards I installed by synaptic gnome-python-gconf (2.28.1-4pclos2013) and x-tile works!
Also another PCLinuxOS user, with LXDE desktop, tried it and it works.
You need to create keyboard shortcuts and insert x-tile in the menu.
You can see the discussion in Italian on the forum http://www.istitutomajorana.it/forum2/Thread-DA-DEB-A-RPM–3267
Translation by Google Translate is unsatisfactory because Italian and English have a grammatical construction completely different …. but if you want you can understand …
Thank you Marilena for sharing your solution!
The download link is broken (or you have to register to the forum) but anyway the discussion about the tool alien is available.
BTW I’m Italian so I have no problem in reading Italian forums! 😀
All the Best,
You should register to the forum to download the rpm file, otherwise use the tool alien.
Forum Infarmatica Majorana is best for open source in Italy (and for Italian speaking), it also gives you an excellent support for Windows users!
So, if you like, you can register at this link:
