Thank you very much for CherryTree – I like the program very much, and I think it will replace Basket on my PC very soon. :-) The work you are doing is amazing, and my only concern is that you should not put too much features into CherryTree in order to keep it small and fast.

I noticed that there are some typos in the German version of CherryTree. I am not familiar with python or programming in general, but I saw that there is a locale/de.po file in the sorce code. Would it be of assistance if I correct the typos there and send the amended package to you, or should I send the change requests to someone else?

about keeping cherrytree small and fast I agree, please remember this to me in future if I’ll forget :)
about the German translation, the file locale/de.po is exactly the one that should be fixed.
you can fix it and send it to me and you can also become the maintainer if you want since the current maintainer is quite discontinuous and did not update the language file for the latest release (while all other thanslators did).
Just an advice: to spot the untranslated sentences you can search for the following patterns in the de.po text file
1) fuzzy (strings where there’s a proposed draft of translation)
2) “” (empty strings)

I started to check the translation and made some amendments; I think I will get ready this weekend. However, I am still working on the 0.21.1 version. As I saw from the diff, there are very few amendments in the de.po file – if that’s not a problem for you, I will include them and send only the de.po file to you.

One more question concerning the “fuzzy” and “” entries: Are these ones translated automatically and need to be checked? And is it ok if the first row contains “” while the tranlation starts only in the second one? – Example (line 1295):
#: modules/cons.py:481
msgid "Add a Node having the same Father of the Selected Node"
msgstr ""
"Einen Knoten mit dem selben übergeordneten Knoten wie dem markierten einfügen"

the language files are the same for 0.21.X except for some irrilevant comments automatically generated to indicate the line numbers of the strings in the source code files, so don’t worry about other de.po versions if you already started with a version >= 0.21, the tool will then automatically fix the comments.

once you’re done you can send the de.po file to me and I will create a version only for you so that you can check your job.

about the places marked with fuzzy, all of them should be checked/fixed and the word fuzzy removed afterwards.
about the first row including empty quotes that’s fine, you can also write everything in one line this way:
msgid “text in english”
msgstr “this translated text if very long will be automatically splitted from the tool and the first line will become an empty string”
