Please forgive me if this exists already, but the only thing this program doesn’t have that fits my needs (moving from OneNote) is the ability for a template on a new page insert.

So I can be typing in a new node and decide I want to create a child node, so I press Ctrl+N and start adding notes to the child. It would be nice that when I did that, it would insert a predefined title and a couple sections I like to have on the top of each node. As it stands right now, I just go back up to the parent node and copy/paste the section to the child. This happens often enough in my day to day to come here to post about it or else I would just ignore it, it’s really not a lot of work to do.

If it is a huge coding challenge I would disregard putting forth the effort, but just something I would find very helpful.

    Thanks.

Hi Gerry, it is very easy to duplicate an existing node and then drag it where you want, does this fit your need?

Thank you for the prompt reply. Duplicating nodes isn’t exactly the same, but I can see how that could be helpful. I was going through the documentation and cannot see how to do that, could you explain?

If the duplicating nodes is the option, is there a keyboard shortcut I can use so that when I insert a new node, it pastes automatically?

EDIT: I found it in the documentation under “user interface – menus – tree – duplicate node”. It seems this will duplicate the currently selected node. I guess I can see this working since my current node will have my template at the top, I will just have to delete all the text/images in it. I will mess with this and report back if it becomes too much of a pain.

NOTE: Thanks for the quick reply, love the program and all of its features. Switching between OneNote, Google Keep, TreeDBNotes, and CherryTree synced with Google Drive and by far, yours is the best!!

You can right click on a node and select “Duplicate Node” or just use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Ctrl+D.
